Dell has provided via their website a calculator that can help you esimate the running cost of your Dell or similar PC’s.  The calculator enables you to provide the basic information about your system, monitor type, hard drive etc. and furnished with extra information such as, how long do you use your system each day and what energy management profile are you using, it can tell you approximately how much it costs in electricity to keep your PC running.
The site also allows you to compare you dell setup with another setup to provide like for like comparison to inform you if it is worth ditching your current setup for a more eco friendly energy efficient model.

Dell has committed itself to providing greener products and is said to be striving to become the world’s greenest computing company and has cut it’s greenhouse gas emissions, along with buying more green power.  Dell featured at number 5 on the U.S. Environment agency’s list of green power purchasers in the Fortune 500 companies.  Intel, who were at the top of the list was only computing company to feature higher than Dell.
